Hi! My name is Tegan Coutts.
For as long as I can remember I have been creative, artistic, curious and observant.
I studied anthropology and art history at Kent State University and went on to complete a master's of science at the University College of London in 2007. I moved to Germany after obtaining my masters because I wasn't ready to leave Europe. 15 years later I am still here. After learning the German I rediscovered the repressed creativity in me. I graduated in 2019 with a BA in Graphic Design from Akademie Faber-Castell in Stein bei Nürnberg.
This mishmash of the artist and the anthropologist really helps me see stories and visualise images. I like to observe real situations and put a funny spin on them. I am an adamant sketchbook keeper. My most important criteria is that my illustrations and story ideas  make me laugh, make me smile, and elicit an emotional response.
I use a mixture of analog and digital techniques to create my illustrations. I love drawing images for children's picture books, pattern design, and architectural drawings from my travels. My favourite materials are paint sticks, ink, crayon, and watercolour.
